Québécois Folk Music will energize Horizon Stage

Genticorum will bring their joyous sound and cheeky sense of humour to
Spruce Grove on February 2nd

Weaving wooden flute, fiddle, acoustic guitar, jaw harp, bass and foot percussion with strong vocal
harmonies, Quebec’s Genticorum offers their audience a blend of traditional songs and tunes as well as original compositions. Now music-lovers in the Spruce Grove and Edmonton area have the opportunity to experience these incredibly talented Francophone musicians Up Close and Personal at Horizon Stage on Saturday, February 2nd.

For seven years, Genticorum have been forging a place for themselves on the folk and world-music circuit, becoming one of the most sought-after proponents of Québécois musical culture. Winners of a 2005 Canadian Folk Music award for Best Ensemble, they were nominated for a Juno in 2006. But no matter where they go and what they do, they keep their roots firmly planted in the soil of their native land and province

Last seen in Edmonton at the 2004 Folk Music Festival, Genticorum have recently been successfully touring in the United States, England, Scotland, Scandinavia, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Egypt and New Zealand. Their concert in Spruce Grove is one of only a handful of Canadian appearances before they hit the road again and tour Australia in March. Performing mostly French and instrumental pieces, Genticorum easily surmount any language barriers with their toe tapping, energetic, and thoroughly enjoyable music.

Don’t miss Genticorum Up Close and Personal at Horizon Stage on Saturday, February 2nd at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors.
