Lose Yourself in the Whimsical World of the Water Forest

Meet the charming and delightful water-forest people from Sursaut Dance Company’s At Nightfall at Horizon Stage on Saturday, April 10 – 3 p.m.

Auguste is a shoemaker who knows nothing of holidays. In fact, he knows little about life outside of his work-shop. Then, Auguste discovers the water forest, where shade and light intermingle and the “tiny people” live. Crazy, tender, tipsy or delicate, the tiny people’s nocturnal dances include rituals in which they turn, jump and frolic in total abandon. Their elusive beauty, casualness and antic characters exercise an undeniable charm on Auguste and all passersby who venture into their world.

Lose yourself in the whimsical world of the water forest when Horizon Stage presents Sursaut Dance Company’s charming production, At Nightfall, on Saturday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Founded in 1985, Sursaut is a contemporary dance company devoted to the creation and production of shows for young and family audiences. Artistic director and choreographer, Francine Châteauvert, collaborates closely with dancer and general manager, Adam Dymburt to form the heart of this Quebec-based company. They have presented their work from coast to coast and outside Canada, including stops in Spruce Grove with Les Excentriques in 2002 and Family Portrait in 2006.

The final presentation in Horizon Stage’s 2009/2010 Family Matinee Series, At Nightfall is fanciful and fun. Recommended for children aged five and up, audience members of all ages will experience wonder and find joy in this dazzling theatrical dance presentation. It is important to note that the start time for At Nightfall is 3 p.m., instead of the usual 2 p.m. Free pre-show crafts and activities for children will run in the theatre lobby from 2 - 3 p.m. Tickets for At Nightfall are $15.00 for all ages.
